MISSION STATEMENT:
Our Mission is the provision of a broad, relevant
curriculum for our students, through which they can
develop their full potential. We aim to prepare our
students to participate as good Christians and as good
citizens in society.
The Ballinamore Post-Primary Schools comprise of Ballinamore
Vocational School and Fatima and Felim's Secondary Schools.
A system of common enrolment is in operation since 1970
which has enabled the pupils to benefit from the best
of both Vocational School and Secondary School traditions.
It has resulted in a pooling of resources which provides
a wide curriculum for both Junior Certificate and Leaving
Certificate Students.
The Ballinamore Post-Primary schools aim at helping
students develop in the personal, academic sporting,
cultural and spiritual dimensions of their lives. The
intention is to help equip our students with the personal
and the learning skills which will assist them in their
adult and professional lives. The schools' commitment
to Christian values and to the importance of community
involvement is essential for an educational environment
which helps to promote the strengths of each pupil.
In terms of the performing arts, occasional concerts
and plays have given students opportunities to develop
their dramatic and singing skills. Participation in
public speaking, quizzes is encouraged and facilitated
by teachers. The school magazine gives students a chance
to exercise their creative and descriptive abilities.
Educational Tours to European countries have provided
students with opportunities to experience other cultures.
The school has a strong sporting tradition in Gaelic
football, basketball and athletics. Our students have
progressed to inter-county, provincial, national and
international standards.
The school provides for the pastoral care of students
with a career guidance teacher and the services of special
tuition for students who have specific learning difficulties.
A system of class teachers is in operation to help
students with any problems they may encounter in their
time at second level education.
Adult Education is also catered for in Ballinamore
Post-Primary Schools. These classes take many shapes and are tailored
to suit local needs. Successful classes have been held
in ECDL Computing, Yoga, Beginners and Advanced Computers,
Cookery, Languages, Flower Arrangement.
