Club Grants

County Leitrim Vocational Education Committee has been involved with Sport since its inception. In 1978 a grant scheme was introduced for Youth and Sport clubs. A Youth and Sport sub-committee was set up to handle the process of awarding grants. The Local Youth Club Grant Scheme is administered by County Leitrim VEC (see details below).

Guidelines and finance are issued and allocated by the Department of Education and Science. In the last couple of years major changes have come about. Sport was transferred to the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation. In future the Sports Grant will be administered by the Irish Sports Council.

The VEC also participates and administers various national programmes over the year, including:

(1) Grants for clubs and organisations.
(2) Sport for all Leadership Courses
(3) Go for Life programme with the HSE.
